We've had a busy summer at Capital of Cycling and Shipley Active Travel Hub, delivering a wide variety of events as part of the Big Bike Revival funded by Cycling UK. We still have a few more opportunities to get involved including two more led rides in October.
Highlights included a busy open day at Rawson Road, rides to East Riddlesden Hall, Rodley Nature Reserve and the Peregrine Ride, all including tea and cake. We also led family off-road rides, fixed bikes at events including Ilkley Car Free Festival, Rae Gala in Shipley and ran learn to fix sessions.

Community Active Travel Hub Funding Success
We are very pleased to announce that Capital of Cycling has been awarded Community Active Travel Hub funding from West Yorkshire Combined Authority to set up Keighley Active Travel Services. Partnering with Keighley Youth Focus and Bradford Council’s Active Travel Social Prescribing Team, we will be working with local organisations and communities to increase cycling and active travel in Keighley. Over the summer we have been supporting maintenance sessions in Devonshire Park, a bike puppet session with Cecil Green Arts as part of a parade and are currently recruiting a new staff member to develop this project.

Walking to Zero with Shipley Active Travel Hub
Shipley Active Travel Hub is teaming up with "To Walk" to transform your walking experience. You are invited to take part in a series of workshops sketching the landscape experienced on your walks.
Jake Attree, a renowned Yorkshire-based landscape artist, will help you develop your ‘seeing’ and sketching skills to transform walking into a memorable experience, culminating in an exhibition of sketches at the Bradford Trapezium Arts Gallery. You don't need to be a ‘walker’ or be able to draw to take part and we encourage those who see themselves as neither to sign up. The project will be held on weekends early next year.

Bradford Moor PASS
Development of the Bradford Moor PASS bike project in BD3 is continuing apace and so far has included installing a container with accessible access in Attock Park, training local people in bike maintenance skills and equipping them with tools, all delivered by ebike and trailer! It's fantastic to see busy cycle fixing sessions with people developing new skills and confidence in cycle maintenance.
More Free Adult Cycling Lessons
Free adult cycle lessons are now available in more locations in Bradford. We currently offer lessons from Shipley Active Travel Hub, Keighley Leisure Centre, Lister Park, Bowling Park and Rawson Road in Bradford city centre. Whether you are taking your first pedal strokes at our learn to ride sessions, improving your skills in a traffic free environment, gaining confidence on cycle paths or roads, we have sessions to cater to many different needs thanks to funding from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

On Yer Bike
To celebrate BD25 City of Culture we are excited to be working with HATCH projects to tell the stories of cyclists in Bradford. After an artist selection process, the cycling groups have chosen their preferred artists to tell their stories. The groups include the inspirational women in BD5 who have learnt to ride in their retirement and the dedicated volunteers in Keighley who aim to revitalise their community through cycling.
We’re grateful to Give Bradford for awarding us a grant to carry out this project. We can't wait to see the results of their work, which will be displayed early next year in Bradford city centre.
